Who can I help?

I specialize in psychological support for people who suffer from anxiety disorders and eating disorders. I also help clients with relational problems.

- Panic attacks

From one moment to another you can experience a panic attack. That means you are out of breath, you experience an accelerated heartbeat, your head is spinning, your whole body is trembling or you try to control blushing cheeks, ecc. You may have the impression of loosing control, or the sensation of dying. Trying to calm down, to slow your heartbeat, or to control your spontaneous physical reactions often has the contrary effect of increasing the unwanted physical condition, which brings the inevitable feeling of helplessness. To prevent these kinds of situations, you avoid going out, you ask for help from close friends or family members. You may take anxiolytics. You look to do as little as possible so as not to trigger a panic attack.

-  Obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD)

Do obsessive thoughts (you cannot control) or compulsive behaviors govern your life? Do you continuously repeat specific behaviors (for example, you wash your hands throughout the day or you check the lights and gas a certain number of times before going to bed, etc.) and you are unable to stop doing them? Do you spend great amounts of time thinking about something or repeating some sequence of numbers or praying in your head, ecc.? Do these actions require a lot of your time and as a consequence diminish the quality of your life (you don’t go out with friends, have problems at work, ecc.). Would you like to finally control your life?

Are you excessively worried about having a serious illness? You have done a lot of medical analyses and tests with specialists that were unable to find any explanation of your neurophysiological symptoms. You have detected many physical symptoms (for example gastrointestinal problems, palpitations or muscle fatigue). You no longer trust doctors and have decided to constantly examine yourself.  You diagnose yourself but the anxiety still persists.

- Anorexia Nervosa

Technically you don’t weigh enough to function normally (BMI index under 18) but you feel OK. You are able to live on extremely low amounts of food, and you control what you eat. You have a list of prohibited products, you prefer to cook by yourself. You try not to eat with your family members and not to go out with your friends for dinner. Lately your social life is limited or you have some problems at school or at work. Everybody around you tells you to eat more, but you don’t know what the problem is.

- Bulimia Nervosa

You try to achieve your perfect weight by using a particular diet. Sometimes you are able to maintain the eating regime, but very often when you are tired, stressed or nervous, you are unable to control what you are eating. In a short amount of time you binge an excessive amount of caloric food (fast food). Afterward you feel guilty and frustrated that you weren’t able to loose weight or at least maintain it. Again and again you start new diets but continue to loose control and the vicious circle repeats. You may use laxatives, exercise excessively, or cause yourself to vomit.

- Vomiting Syndrome

You feel the best way to loose or maintain the perfect weight is by eating and vomiting. You can loose weight without having to give up the pleasure of eating. Nobody knows it and everybody thinks that you have a fast metabolism. But everyday, many times a day, you allow yourself to eat what you like then go to the bathroom to vomit. At times you would like to stop doing it, but you can’t. And you are tired of spending money on food unnecessarily. You do not feel good physically. You would like to stop doing this ritual but you are afraid of gaining weight.

- Binge Eating Disorder

You experience uncontrolled eating during different times of the day and night. You abstain from food for a long period and may control your diet in a restrictive way, but then you transgress and overeat. You would like to control what you are eating and stop binging, but you are unable to do this.

- Relationship Problems

You haven’t been able to communicate with your partner in a normal way for some time, and every attempt ends in a quarrel. You can’t stand it any more. Lately you have problems with your children. They don’t listen to you, don’t want to go to school. You are very busy at work, which becomes very stressful, your boss is very demanding and your colleagues don’t understand you anymore. It’s better that you do not wait any longer.
